Ash Wednesday

Today is Ash Wednesday. For the Roman Catholic, it is the first day of the penitential season of Lent. For the ritual, ashes are placed on the forehead. It reminds us for fasting, repentance and prayer. And for most Roman Catholic, Ash Wednesday is observed by refraining from eating meat and drinking alcohol.

When I was in the seminary, we truly observed the Lenten season. Every Wednesday and Friday, we refrain from eating meat by eating dried fish during breakfast and sometimes on the evening. And during the mass, the priest is always at the confession room for us to penitent every time we commit sins. And most of the time, the place of the seminary is always solemn.

Let this day be the start to control our body and emotions and to stay away from sins. And let us remind ourselves that Jesus died on the cross because of our sins.

Meet Mr. Mancinelli - The World’s Oldest Barber

Have you tried cutting your hair with an old man barber? Well, meet Mr. Anthony Mancinelli or Anthony Mancinelli, a 98 yrs. old from Newburgh (city), New York. He holds the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Oldest Barber.

He started cutting hair when was 12 yrs. old. His purpose at that time was to help his family. He said, "At that time, learning to become a barber was just a way to make four or five extra bucks a week".

Many customers compliment about his work. One customer said that he is the fastest barber and still cuts very straight. Another customer said his fingers are just as nimble. Even the owner of the barber shop said he’s nonstop, and always has a smile on his face. Mancinelli said he still feel like he's in beautiful shape. He is not even considering retirement because coming to work is what keeps him going.

This is cool! I admire his skill, good health and cheerfulness.

This is one of the powerful songs to me. These words struck me most: "We only got 86 400 seconds in a day to turn it all around or throw it all away. We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say. Gotta live like we’re dying"...Listen and enjoy to the song! Cool!

Kris Allen - Live Like We’re Dying Lyrics

Sometimes we fall down and can’t get back up
We’re hiding behind skin that’s too tough
How come we don’t say I love you enough
Till it’s to late, it’s not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come
We could make a feast from these crumbs
And we’re all staring down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you
What would you wish you would’ve done

Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start pickin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dying

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we’re dying

And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbyes
Should be so careful who we live out our lives
So when we long for absolution
There’ll no one on the line

Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start pickin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dying

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we’re dying

Like we’re dying oh - like we’re dying [x2]

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live - like we’re dying

We never know a good thing till it’s gone
You never see a crash until it’s head on
All those people right when we’re dead wrong
You never know a good thing till it’s gone

Yeah… gotta start
Lookin at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start livin it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin’
Gotta live like we’re dying

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we’re dying

Like we’re dying oh - like we’re dying [x2]

We only got
86 400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we’re dying
Live like we’re dying
[Fade out]

Delirious and Nervous

Delirious = synonyms of thrilled, excited, ecstatic.
Nervous = highly excitable; unnaturally or acutely uneasy or apprehensive.

The video was taken during our Company Christmas Party. We were delirious about the Christmas celebration and nervous during our presentation because we just practice for a week. Anyhow, we did our best and the audience were enjoying our dance presentation. Go Generbyos boys! Cool!

Happy Valentines Day to all! Today I read many articles about love and happy relationships, happy ending relationships, etc. I know I cannot escape this Valentines Day celebration. Some celebrate by going to the mall, dating everywhere, and even underwater adventure. Anyway, my Valentines Day is sweet because I eat a lot of chocolates given by my mom, lol. Thanks mom for being so sweet. I don't have any date. So to anyone, I am still single and available, lol.

Ninja Discipline

When you were a kid, do you think of becoming a Ninja someday? lol. I watched the movie Ninja Assassin. For me it was a cool movie though Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rated R for strong bloody stylized violence throughout, and language. Well, of course, Ninja should be an action movie and expected to be a brutal or has violence. What I always like about the Ninja is their discipline in training. Aside from climbing, walking, swimming, they were trained most on the martial arts discipline. They never quit. They never complain. They never asked. They just do because they know it will be for their own good. That's how it works. It's about discipline, an attitude. In life, discipline is very important in various ways. It's a one way to success. Agree? Yes. I hope I will be able to follow the virtue of Ninja - Discipline. Cool!

Memorable quotes from
Ninja Assassin movie:

Raizo: [to Ozuno] "The breath I take after I kill you will be the first breath of my life".

Ozunu: "Weakness compels strength, betrayal demands blood".

Music Is Cool

Music is cool, right? Do you agree? Yes, definitely. But when you are in a band, it's more fun. I started to have a band when I was in High School. It was my first time to perform in a stage with a band. I do percussion and back up vocals. It was nice but somehow as they say "practice makes perfect". And during College years, I see more bands and I learned a lot with so many types of genre of music. I was not really focus in a band because my priority is to finish college education. But it was a great experience. It was in College when we had an audition for our "Student's Night" and performed live with so many schoolmates watching you. Also, we had some gigs/invitation like in a small bar and town. Today, I still enjoyed playing in a band occasionally. And sometimes I go to concerts with my friends. It was fun and cool!

Island Hopping

Define Island Hopping. For tourism, Island hopping involves visiting several islands in succession. With 7107 islands in the Philippines, although I just visited some of it, I am still blessed to enjoy the beauty of nature. To name some, I visited Cagayan, Negros, Davao, Bukidnon, Camiguin Island, Bantayan Island, Moalboal Island, and Canigao Island in Leyte. It is always cool to have an island hopping. I love island hopping. Thanks God for creating such a wonderful gift of nature.

"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature." - Anne Frank -

Magic?!..wow!

Posted by noldsman On 3:59 AM 0 comments Categories:

Yes, magic..as in M, A, G, I, C. = MAGIC. When I was in the seminary, we had this show, we called it "Talent's Nyt", which everyone of us have to present at least a new learning from our leisure time. At that time, I was thinking of a magic (MAGIC - the practice of illusory tricks to entertain other people; conjuring). During my leisure time, I watch movies about magic to encourage myself to perform as a "magician", and I research and read books as well. And when it was my time to perform, I was nervous, but I remind myself to be focus and be cheerful. I looked like a clown and a magician at that night, lol. I was tumbling and do some magics like blowing fire as shown in the picture. Everyone was enjoyed with my magic. Was that cool?! For me, yes! amazing!
